Defining our Missional Community

We're about a week away from launching our MC here in Ada. Our church has a great resource that we use to organize and communicate with each other called Church Community Builder. I used this tool to put up a description of our MC and when & where we get together each week.

Our church's vision is to move people in four direction: Upward, Outward, Inward, & Forward. I've integrated this vision into our vision for our MC.

Below is the description of our MC. check it out and let me know what you think.

We are open both to the Christ follower and the sojourner (those who haven't decided yet to follow Christ). Their children are welcome as well, because we believe the best way for children to see authentic community is by being actively involved in it. We gather around a common meal each week to enjoy eachother's company and discuss God and life. But we are definitely more than just a bible study.

We gather to encourage one another to move in four directions that we believe lead to transformation in our own lives, our neighborhood, city and ultimately the world.

UPWARD: Worshiping God for who He is and what He has done for us. Worship is more than just about music, it is a lifestyle. How you spend your time and finances tells you a lot about who or what you worship.

OUTWARD: Our hope would be that you could sniff out the good news of Jesus on us whether we open our mouths or not. The early church was marked by how they tangibly cared for people and it didn't seem to matter whether they played on the same team or not. Through local missions we hope to be a blessing to Ada that can easily point back to Jesus. Beyond local efforts, we seek to be actively involved in world missions.

INWARD: Our foundation must always come back to our personal relationship with God. To do this we commit to being active in our missional community, to use our gifts in serving others, and to be accountable and grow spiritually within a small core group of people.

FORWARD: Through gathering together we hope to discover and develop our gifts and abilities to serve one another through the contribution of time, financial support, and relational influence.

If you believe these directions are something worth engaging in, you are more than welcome to travel with us...
